Bethany Parker is a 21-year-old, experienced musician based in Staffordshire, UK. She is currently studying at the University of Wolverhampton working towards her BMus degree. Her primary instrument is the flute which she started playing from the age of 7 and achieved her Trinity grade 8 in year 13. She is also a self-taught saxophonist, learning how to play at the age of 16 when joining her school jazz band. Once Bethany has completed her degree, she wishes to go onto study for a PGCE to become a music teacher. She also wishes to perform, and would love to become a musician in the West End.
Currently, in her second year at university, Bethany is working on different projects, allowing her to explore different options within music and develop her skills in composing, performing and music research. Bethany is also looking to take her grade 8 jazz saxophone exam and complete her flute diploma.
Bethany has a wide range of experience in live music and has played in many different ensembles, starting in high school playing in their Irish, Concert and Jazz bands. She also played in her school pit orchestra for productions such as, Sister Act, All Shook Up and Bugsy Malone. Most recently playing with the Rugeley Musical Theatre Company for an original production of 'The Prince of Poisoners. This experience inspired her dream to become a theatre musician. She later joined the Cannock Performing Arts Centre wind band and Staffordshire Youth Jazz band, in which she still currently plays in, performing on regular occasions at concerts, jazz events and music competitions. She also helps other students develop their performance and ensemble skills, helping them progress from junior bands to the senior ensembles. Bethany is also a part of the Great Wyrley community band, which performs many times throughout the year.
Not only does Bethany play in many ensembles but she has regularly played as a soloist. Playing at weddings and funerals as well as church and charity events.
